What storage conditions are needed for this medicine?
Store somatostatin in the refrigerator, and protected from direct light. Do not allow the medication to freeze.
For some forms of this medication, the following directions should be followed:
- Somatostatin-UCB® 250 µg: store between 2° and 8°C.
- Somatostatin-UCB® 3 mg and Somatostatin-UCB® 6 mg: do not exceed 25°C.
- Sandostatin LAR Depot® kit: should be kept at room temperature for 30 to 60 minutes before mixing the medicine. Give the injection right away after mixing your dose.
It is important that you throw away any medicine left in the bottle after 14 days of use, and then start a new bottle. Talk to your doctor or nurse about the proper disposal of your medication.
