In case of emergency/overdose
In the case of an overdose, call your local poison control center on 1-800-222-1222. However, if the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, then please call the local emergency services on 911.
The appearance of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pains and metabolic disorders (hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia) have been reported following the administration of high doses of somatostatin. However, due to the short half life of somatostatin in the blood (2 minutes), halting the administration rapidly improves the symptoms. Regular monitoring of the glycaemia, cardiovascular parameters, the renal function and plasma electrolyte levels is recommended in the event of overdose.
